Why theater? Isn't that boring?
Theater may not fix every problem in the world, or even most of them. But seeing plays is an investment in our lives, and our experiences of the world. Stories told onstage are unique in their ability to respond to the present moment, the power to reference the past, and the dedication with which theater artists approach their work. In a famously lonely city and increasingly isolated world, theater fights back against distance and apathy by refusing to do anything other than care. Care loudly, and live-ly, bringing people together in a given location and moment to experience something shared. Bring a friend, or bring yourself, plan ahead or show up ten minutes before the show begins. The best things in life are shared.
